Marriage License

To obtain a marriage license, we will need to have a Marriage Intentions Form completed. This must be signed by both parties together in front of the Town Clerk.

Once you have completed the Marriage Intentions, the Town Clerk will process the license.

Please bring with you the following information:

  • Marriage Intentions form
  • Photo ID for each party
  • If either party has been divorced, your Certified Divorce Decree with raised or colored seal

Note: Your Marriage License will expire after 90 days of the issue date.

To receive a certified copy of your Marriage License at a later date, please complete the Marriage License Request form here and return it to the Town Office with the appropriate fee.

  • 1st copy of Marriage License - $15.00
  • 2nd copy of Marriage License - $6.00 (If within same request for 1st copy)

*Please be aware that certified copies may require a 24-hour turn around*

Appointments are recommended with Marriage Licensing, as the process will take 1/2 hour - 1 hour.

For non-residents of Maine it is recommended that you obtain your license in the town where the marriage will take place. There is no waiting period in Maine.
